Expressing Hints

Most premature babies are unable to breastfeed straight away.

One of the best things a mother can do (if she is able) is to express her breastmilk for her baby to be tube fed.

Expressing is just as hard as breast feeding if not harder as you are trying to produce milk for a baby you have very little physical contact with.

Here a few hints that have helped some mums with the expressing journey.

Please feel free to add your own tips and hints to help other mums.

Increasing Milk Supply

Double pumping (expressing milk from both breasts at the same time) is faster and more convenient than pumping from one breast at a time and often increases your milk supply. Or feeding on one side whilst pumping on the other will help stimulate more milk.
